DeChon has a very long career as a well-rounded athlete, coach, leader, and community servant. In high school, he played football and basketball and ran track (All-Conference Long-Jump champion), and went on to play football and baseball for the University of Southern California where he played in two Rose Bowl games. DeChon later played baseball in the Houston Astros developmental system. Ultimately, he found his calling in coaching, serving at the University of Texas El Paso, Texas Southern, and on to the NFL where he coached for a number of teams including the Eagles, 49ers, and (then) Washington Redskins. He then decided to dedicate his experience to not only coach young, talented athletes in various high schools, but also to support the Freddie Mac Organization, Hoops for the Homeless. He continues to share his insight and coaching wisdom at Linfield Christian HS in Temecula, CA, and as a public speaker. DeChon has a B.A. in Communication (emphasis in social sciences) and has three amazing children.
